Scarborough Research was founded in New York City in 1978. Its Data Collection division, Scarborough Operations Center was set up in Coral Springs, Florida (just north west of Ft. Lauderdale) where it still maintains its headquarters.

In addition, there are two other locations: San Antonio, TX and Sarasota, FL. The three Scarborough Operations Center offices are networked to each other, and to other Scarborough Research offices in New York and Texas for data transfers.

Scarborough Research conducts over 250,000 telephone surveys, 250,000 mail surveys and television diaries with respondents each year.

This raw consumer data is given to sister companies, to create databases of information and then sold to other companies.
